if it's medicine to you, then the bottom shelf will do if it's medicine to you, then anything will do. if it's medicine to you, pour me one too. set some goals. lose your friends. change your clothes. quit your band. shave your beard and clean up your shit. fix your car, get into it and go. drive back home. say hello to all the people you used to know. fall in love. fall apart. rewind, finish to start - again. if it's medicine to you, then the bottom shelf will do if it's medicine to you, then anything will do. if it's medicine to you, pour me one too.

Stone Pony 01:35
come on let's drive down to the stone pony. climb in the van, come on let's go. come on let's drive down to the stone pony. climb in the van, come on let's go. takin' a drive down to the garden state. i bet this weezer show is gonna be great. i haven't been able to concentrate. i hope we get there 'cuz my brakes are loose. they're gonna share the same stage as bruce and southside johnny and the asbury jukes. you can't tear down something special. rock and roll legends on the water. and after we all see the show we'll take a walk around the boardwalk and the vacant streets of a gritty jersey town. climb in the van, come on let's go. hop in the van, come on let's go. we gotta see some rock and roll.

i have two cups in the mornin' to wake my tired mind. i have two more cups in the afternoon. and if things ain't goin' right, i have two more cups at night just to put me in a better mood. divine caffeination is what I need from you. divine caffeination. when staring into outer space just give me a little taste to keep me away from countin' sheep. but if i'm all kinds of amped up, don't give me another cup. i'll need a beer just to fall asleep. divine caffeination is what I need from you. divine caffeination, keeps me from being you. divine caffeination is what I need from you. divine caffeination.

remember selling all my concert tees that i’ve been saving up since my teens? i tried to dress me like a real sharp dude. the problem is i was just twenty-two. look at me now, look at me now! well i don’t like what i see, so i built a time machine. yeah i think i grew up too fast and there’s things in my life i want back. i know it seems like i’m going in reverse. and the drinking is only getting worse. and then i had to sell my first drum set to scrape enough together for the rent. i had that kit since i was five years old! some things in life are not meant to be sold. look at me now, look at me now! well i don’t like what i see, so i built a time machine. yeah i think i grew up too fast and there’s things in my life i want back. i know it seems like i’m going in reverse. and the drinking is only getting worse. the drinking is only getting worse.

why the fuck is the still goin' on? all the experts said this would be over by now. twenty five and still don't have a job work and the coffee shop and then head home to mom's to go to sleep. but i went to school, i did what i was supposed to do! and i'l never be the same 'cuz i got a coffee mug and some paper in a frame. so i'll find a bar and have a shot or three i'll have a drink for you and another one for me. stumble home and pass out on the floor. watch the ceiling spin and then have one more and go to sleep. go to sleep.
6.
i'm just not like you guys. yeah, i'm a little weird. when i stick to myself when i'm in a big crowd and i don't want anybody else around except me. yeah, me myself and i. and i stay at home on friday nights and i stay at home on saturday nights and i stay at home all the time.

We May Age 02:33
let's go to a show. a band nobody knows. five bucks at the door and the beer is cheap. our ears will ring for days. who needs ears anyways? most of the things people say don't mean anything. we may age, we may age but we'll never grow old. tattoos, skate shoes and punk rock and roll. teach our kids how to live and to never give up what they love to do or it's over. let's go to the bar. don't have to go very far as long as we're gonna keep good company. we'll be hungover for days. our heads are pounding away. never forget what dave sang at karaoke. we may age, we may age but we'll never grow old. tattoos, skate shoes and punk rock and roll. teach our kids how to live and to never give up what we love to do or it's over.

i'm just a glorified taxi cab driving all over the place. i'm just a glorified taxi cab when do i get a break?
9.
hey guys, what’s going on? whaddya got in store? hey guys, pass me the bong. oh, you don’t do that anymore. well, show me to the beer so I can do a keg stand. yeah! “hold up ralph, i don’t think you understand. there is no keg, there is no bong. we’re not set up to play beer pong. but there’s the wine, food is on the way. it’s a marathon of Will & Grace!” fuck this guy. i’m outta here.

Jumbo Slice 00:16
jumbo slice! jumbo slice! i'm really fucked up and feelin' nice. jumbo slice! jumbo slice! a perfect ending to a crazy night.
11.
Wreckless 02:30
woke up on a saturday hung over, again. two bottles of Gatorade and some aspirin. i’m ready for whatever comes my way as long as I don’t hafta do anything today. i’m gonna go on a bender, i’m gonna go off the rails. i’m gonna do something stupid to purposely fail. jason hand me a beer i can’t afford while I pick the label off this one and stare at the floor. i’m feeling reckless but i don’t know why. i’m listening to people and i’m taking their advice, but nothing ever seems to stick. i’m not sure this is a problem i can fix. i’m feeling reckless but i don’t know why. i’m listening to people and i’m taking their advice, but nothing ever seems to stick. i’m not sure this is a problem i can fix. i think it’s time i admit that i’m the cause of it. do you remember that feeling when you put it all together? when you fell in love, when you fell in love? do you remember that feeling when you fucked it all up? when it all fell apart, and you felt so dumb? yeah, me too.
12.
i’ve lost interest in friends and success and all the things that keep me going. until i saw you bar tending. i think its time my night should be ending. i asked for a beer to go. you thought it was a funny joke. i like the color that you’re glowing. i really think i should get going. i think its time that i get going. i really think i should be going.
13.
flippin' through photographs like a form of rediscovery. trying to remind myself of the way things used to be. if i had your number still would it be alright if i called ya? or does that go back too far, a pilgrimage to Mesopotamia? what if i was misunderstood all these years? what if you would, what if you would take the double dare? it still wouldn’t work, it still wouldn’t work. ‘cause i’m better now, i’m better now. i’m better than i was at any point before. i’m better now, let me show you how. i’m writing this down instead of acting it out. i’m better now. then i set my goals so high i could not ever reach for them. i became so flexible i felt like an accordion. then i had to take some time and re-assess priorities so i could be myself and still act sorta responsibly. what if i was misunderstood all these years? what if i could, what if i could just disappear? well that wouldn’t work, it would make things worse. ‘cause i’m better now, i’m better now. i’m better than i was at any point before. i’m better now, i'm better now. yeah i’m writing this down instead of acting it out. i’m better now.

about

After a long hibernation, Vitamin Tramp returns with two succinct sets of songs that chronicle the daily motions and thoughts of two guys approaching forty. Sometimes mundane, sometimes insane, Vitamin Tramp Turns Forty presents power pop wrapped stories of inner voices present, good times past, and light commentary on today's society. Now firmly entrenched in Texas after migrating from New England, Turns Forty was written and recorded over the past three years as the band collaborated in their home cities of San Antonio and Dallas. This effort also marks the first time the Tramp handed over the recording reigns to someone outside the band, working with Jack Shirley (Jeff Rosenstock, Deafheaven) in Oakland California.

Ten years after releasing a double-album where songs were segmented by their sonic qualities, this time each principle Tramp gets their own storytelling turn, as Dave wrote and assembled "Too Little", with Ralph constructing "Too Late". Ralph and Dave continued to rely on their over 20 years of musical partnership to flesh out each others’ ideas, combining to play nearly every instrument on every track. The result is an energetic blend of rock, pop, grunge and punk that wears their influences on their sleeves. And as they turn 40, the sleeve of that old rock and roll T-shirt is well worn, a little tattered, and really, really comfortable.

After playing music together since 1995, Vitamin Tramp was formed in Y2K by Ralph Thompson and Dave Novak as a vehicle for songs that didn't fit their other band (SiMent). This post-pop side project went haywire and Vitamin Tramp has ended up outliving its parent band. ... more
